As
a person who works with wood, I view pens as functional art - art that
becomes unique to their owners. As
the pen is used for writing, natural body oils along with the friction
from your soft clothing will cause the pen to smooth and darken over time.
This creates a patina on the wood that is entirely unique.
I
make ballpoint, rollerball and fountain pens. The
pens are designed for everyday use, but the woods from which they are made
are far from everyday… rosewood, padauk, bird’s eye maple, tulip,
lilac, walnut, pistachio, purpleheart, mahogany, black cherry, black
walnut, mesquite, red gum eucalyptus and others.
I also make pens from manmade products such as Corian®.
